History
Raised from the amalgamation of two old county regiments, the Royal Union Rifles keep the rifleman's traditions: black buttons, a fast march pace, and no colours to carry. The battalion was in its Red Mist exercise positions when the incidents on the border began, and crossed the IGB with the first wave of Operation Statant.
