History

The 55th Infantry Division was one of the formations airlifted from the United States to take part in Exercise Red Mist. Its soldiers drew their vehicles from prepositioned stocks, moved out to their exercise positions, and never went home. When Operation Statant began on 23 October, the 55th was in the line.
